ABOUT OUR GAMES
1. What is a boxed game?
A boxed game contains everything you need to host and play your murder mystery party in the box. All you have to do is read the host's guide and send out invitations to your guests. Boxed games are much easier to use than downloadable games but not as flexible - e.g. most are for 6-8 players.
2. What is a downloadable game?
A downloadable game requires you to download the game files to your computer and then print them out. On the plus side, downloadable games are great if you're hosting a party at short notice as you're not reliant on the postal service, and they're more flexible in terms of number of players.
3. Do you do sell games for fewer than 8 players?
Yes, we sell a number of 6 and 7 player games and our Murder Mystery Flexi-Party range can be played by as few as 4 players. Please use the links on the left of the screen to find games with the number of players you need.
4. Do you do sell games for more than 12 players?
Yes. A number of our games go up to 13 and 14 player games and our Murder Mystery Theatre range allows 8 players to perform a murder mystery 'play' for an audience. In addition, we can write any number of extra characters for you to add on to one of our Murder Mystery Flexi-Party games. Please see here for details.
5.Do you have any [football/cooking/Scottish/etc.] themed murder mysteries?
Our range is constantly changing but if you're looking for a party with a particular theme and you can't see it on our site, we do offer a custom game writing service. Please see here for details.
6. Are any of your games suitable for kids?
As a rule, murder mystery games are not suitable for children under the age of 12 due to themes of violence, blackmail, adultery, etc. For children aged 12-18, we recommend you buy Paul Lamond boxed games as they're most 'family friendly'.
7. Some of my guests may be easily offended, do you have any 'safe' games?
Yes, we recommend you buy either a Paul Lamond boxed games or a Murder Mystery Theatre game as both of these brands are 'family friendly'.

8. I've never hosted a murder mystery before, what does it involve?
You and each of your guests take on the role of a suspect in a murder which has just been committed. You're given clues and questions to ask to help you try and solve the murder. Most people choose to wear costumes and the more you get into character the more fun you'll have!
9. What game would you recommend for a first time host?
If you haven't hosted a game before, a boxed game is the best way to start as everything you need is included in the box. These games are very easy to play and the host's guide will tell you exactly what you need to do and when you need to do it.
10. I'm hosting the party, can I still play?
With the exception of GSM Games products, you can play any of the games we sell without knowing who the murderer is (as long as you don't peek at anything you're not supposed to!)
11. How long does it take to play a murder mystery game?
It varies depending on the game and the number of players but allow 1.5 to 3 hours as a rule of thumb.
12. There's a chance one of my guests won't be able to make it on the night. What do I do?
Our Murder Mystery Flexi-Party range is designed for this eventuality. With a Murder Mystery Flexi-Party game, it doesn't matter if a guest drops out at the last minute or if extra guests turn up unexpectedly. The murderer is chosen from the guests present on the night and the game plays as normal.

13. Can I order a game for delivery tomorrow?
Yes - as long as you're in the UK and tomorrow is a weekday. Just add Royal Special Delivery to your order for delivery before 1pm the next working day. You'll find this delivery upgrade on the View Basket page. Please note someone will need to be available at the delivery address to sign for the parcel.
14. How quickly will I receive my boxed game in the post?
All orders placed before 2pm Monday to Friday ship the same day. For UK orders we use First Class post which usually arrives next working day (please allow up to 3 working days). We use Airmail for international orders which takes 2-3 working days to Western Europe, 3-5 working days to Eastern Europe, and 5-8 working days to the rest of the world. We don't ship at the weekend.
15. How soon will I receive my download instructions after placing my order?
You should receive your download instructions by email within a few minutes of placing your order. Look out for an email from sales@downloadformurder.com with the subject line 'DFM Sales Email' which contains a link to the location of the download files.
16. I've paid for my game but haven't received any download instructions.
i. Please check your spam folder if you have one as the download email contains links that some spam filters may not like.
ii. If you paid by Paypal, please note the download instructions are sent to your Paypal email address.
iii. If the first two suggestions don't help, please contact us.
17. My boxed game is missing part of its contents. Can you send me a replacement?
If your game is missing part of its contents please contact the manufacturer whose details are provided in the box as they keep a stash of 'spare parts' exactly for this purpose. If you're not able to contact the manufacturer or in the unlikely event that they're unable to help you, please contact us.
ABOUT DVD/CD MEDIA
18. I don't have a DVD burner, can I still play the game?
Yes. The DVD is an optional extra - any clues given in the films are also included in the written Group Evidence, so it doesn't matter if you can't watch the DVD. However, if you'd like us to burn the DVD and post it to you we can do that too. Please see here for details.
19. I don't have a DVD burner, can you burn the DVD and CD for me?
Yes, we're happy to do that. We charge for this service. Please see here for details.
20. I've copied the DVD file to a DVD but it doesn't work.
The DVD file included in your download is an ISO file, which can't be watched or played like a normal video file. An ISO file needs to be burned to a DVD using proper authoring software. If you have a DVD writer in your computer then you probably already have DVD authoring software installed. If not, there are several programs that can be downloaded to help you. We regret that we are not able to provide technical support concerning this as everybody's system is different! Please note that using the DVD is not crucial to the game. Everything shown in the DVD is also included in the paper group evidence.
